How to Apply for CPP Disability Benefit
- You must print, fill out, and mail in the Application Kit to be eligible for CPP-Disability benefits or benefits for Terminal Illness CPP-Disability. It is necessary for your doctor or oncologist to fill out the Medical Report and send it in separately.
- If you are unable to print the application, paper copies may be available from a member of staff at your cancer center (social worker, resource worker/volunteer, nurse, navigator, etc.) or from your doctor. It is possible that they might fax your application to the Service Canada office as well.
- Applying as soon as you are unable to work is advised. You can apply for CPP-Disability even if you are filing for EI Sickness Benefits if you anticipate a severe and protracted disability
- After receiving an application, Service Canada tries to handle CPP-Disability for Terminal Illness applications within 5 business days. To notify you whether the application has been accepted or if further information is required, a CPP-Disability representative will be in touch with you.

My CPP disability doesn’t even cover my Bill’s,and I know I can never work again due to my disability which I have EA which makes it very hard to breave and I half to take puffers and a needle but rely on family to do my everyday needs,I have anxiety, depression, muscle and nerve damage obesity sleep apnea one kidney fibrobyalma BPD,walking impairment which I need a cane,a mobile scooter to shop or to get around ,chronic pain, mirgiranes,
I have chronic sepsis, brain damage, Dawson finger lesions on my brain, MS(Multiple Sclerosis), PCOS, severe complex PTSD, severe depression, suicidal tendencies, social anxiety, severe anxiety, BPD (Borderline personality disorder), hiatus hernia, umbilical cord hernia, degenerate disc disease, superbug ESBL, asthma, chronic migraines, chronic bronchitis, chronic pain, type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance, congestive heart failure, etc… I died last year on November 12th for over 6 minutes and was in a coma 16 days. All fuel to sepsis it caused me to have a massive heart attack now I have permanent heart damage. It also destroyed the nerves in my left leg I’m now in a wheelchair, but can take a few steps with a walker and aircast. I will only get progressively worse. . . I’ve been sick my whole life. Meaning I’ve never made enough for cpp.
I’m on bc disability. But that barely covers my phone, student loans, and rent. My family who is also not well aandstruggling to survive is paying for my medications and groceries. Because I can’t. And we could lose our house because of all these set backs with medical equipment. I don’t know what to do!!! I don’t know if I qualify for cpp disability when I haven’t been able to work. I just feel sick to my stomach I’m so stressed out and battling another round of sepsis 🙁 we need help.
I feel you. I’ve been on it for 10 years and it just doesn’t cut it. If we could work, we’d rather be working, but jobs we’re able to do take degrees and knowing someone who knows someone. The system is broken. They get more money than we do in a single month plus their working wages. Lovely.
I already ger the cpp disability and cannot work due to my surgerys that I had done do I have to reapply for this new benifit or do I automatically get approves for this and y husband gets the veteran affairs cheques as he had to leave the military due to an injury while he was on a mission does he getters as well when do we have to apply or do we have to apply

I agree with what you’re saying, I cannot work because I’m disabled because of my back and the sciatic nerve. I have written letters emails to the government the Trudeau government in Ottawa, they just take people like you and I and they sweep us under the carpet. As if we don’t matter if we don’t matter, then why should we give them our votes to get in office when they don’t care about us when they don’t help us? But if it was one of their family members. I can guarantee they would bend over backwards to help them. A person that’s on disability does not make enough money to survive in today’s economy with the inflation. I don’t know what’s it going to take for the government to open up their eyes and see. We need help now not tomorrow. Not next week right now.
I 100% agree with you. And frankly I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired. And I’m sick and tired of not being heard. We didn’t choose this. We didn’t just wake up one day and decide “ya know what, I feel like being a cripple today!” That’s NOT how things work. If we could work we WOULD work. We didn’t choose this life!! This burden!!! If I could make it all better again I WOULD!!! It’s just so darn infuriating that they allow us to just rot in the gutter like this while they all go on their fancy vacations, get tattoos, have friends, and do whatever they want. Canada is suppose to be united as one. Help thy neighbor. NOT bash, trash, abuse, and divide us. Or have people forgotten

I have been waiting 2 years for my family doctor to fill out provincial and federal disability. He threatened that I was free to see another doctor should not want to wait. Is there anyway I can get him or someone else to fill it for me?
Psychiatrist can fill it for you too, or nurse practioner, physiotherapist, occupational therapist, etc. Hope this helps ♡
